Local subsidies and assistance for bicycle electrification in Paris and the IDF region

Sustainable mobility is a key concern for the City of Light and the Paris Region. Among the various possible solutions is the use of electric bikes, which combine driving comfort with respect for the urban environment. To this end, Paris is stepping up the creation of cycle lanes and even offering a financial subsidy for switching to electric bikes. Our TSDZ2b kit (a motor with torque sensor) is compatible with most bicycle models, and our comprehensive service includes sales, installation assistance, repairs and after-sales service. The transition to ecomobility makes it possible to benefit from financial subsidies such as aid for the purchase of electrically-assisted bicycles(VAE) and the ecological bonus.
In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, these subsidies can be combined or granted separately, depending on the individual’s profile and the type of bike purchased. àŽle-de-France Mobilités subsidy for bicycle electrification: As part of its support for eco-responsible initiatives and the promotion of soft mobility, àŽle-de-France Mobilités offers a significant subsidy for bicycle electrification. This financial aid is designed to encourage local residents to convert their traditional bicycles to electrically-assisted bicycles (EABs), thereby facilitating urban travel and reducing pollution. Help details :

  • Eligibility: Any àŽle-de-France resident wishing to install an electrification kit on their bike through a professional can benefit from this aid.
  • Amount : The grant covers 50% of the cost of purchasing the kit, up to a maximum of €200.
  • Conditions: Installation must be carried out by a certified professional to ensure equipment compatibility and safety. In addition, electrification kits and modified bikes must comply with European and French regulatory standards.
  • Procedure: Applicants must be over 18 (or an emancipated minor), live in the Paris Region and undertake not to resell the electrified bike for at least 3 years. The request must be made via the àŽle-de-France Mobilités platform within 24 months of purchase.

This aid is a fantastic opportunity for àŽle-de-France residents to improve their mobility while contributing to the collective effort to reduce carbon emissions. For those interested, Syklo offers anelectrification kit installation servicein Paris, which is also eligible for this grant. This financial support makes it easier to transform a traditional bicycle into a high-performance, environmentally-friendly electric bike. Bicycle electrification in Paris is eligible for city subsidies. The subsidy is set at 33%:

  • The purchase price (before tax) of a VAE or electric bike kit, up to a maximum of 400 euros. This offer is valid for Parisians with an income of €6,300 or less. VSEs and SMEs, as well as associations registered in the capital, can also benefit.
  • Up to 900 euros for the purchase of a bicycle for people with reduced mobility. However, the grant is not means-tested.
  • The price (excluding tax) of the cargo bike for converting a conventional bicycle into a cargo bike, with or without electric assistance. The grant is capped at 100 euros.

Applicants must fill in a form and send it to the ASP, together with the purchase invoice, proof of address and a bank account number. If you live in Paris, or if you wish to combine the different types of assistance, you must submit your request in the same application. If the application is approved, the grant for bike electrification in the capital will be paid out within four to six months. The cost of a VAE is around 1,500 to 2,000 euros, and the purchase subsidy represents around 20-25% of the total price of the vehicle. An electric bike kit generally costs between 500 and 1,500 euros, depending on the quality of the motorization and battery. The investment is all the more profitable if the electric bike is used for daily commuting and replaces other means of transport. Please note that TSDZ8 and DM01 kits are not eligible for subsidies, as their power exceeds European regulation EN15194.

Who can help me electrify my bike?

You can electrify your bike yourself by purchasing an electric kit. However, some kits are not compatible with all bike models, and installation can be complex. In this case, assistance is needed for your mobility projects. Contact a professional to take care of it. It’s also possible to visit a bike repair association in the City of Light to take care of your two-wheeled vehicle, at the best possible prices. It’s not just the bike’s performance that’s at stake. To be covered by insurance in the city of Paris, the homologation certificate can only be obtained if the bike meets European standards. Moreover, an electrified bicycle or VAE is only eligible for financial aid if the operation has been carried out by an approved professional.

How do I choose my bike electrification kit in Paris?

The choice of electric bike kit takes into account various criteria: price, comfort of use, power, consumption, performance, frame width, bike model, wheel, etc. Three main kits are available:

  • The pedal motor kit, which installs in the bike frame and is equipped with a torque sensor, intensifying the power of the electric device as you pedal.
  • The motorized kit, installed on the front wheel, designed for short distances. Stable at low speeds, this system is particularly suitable for beginners who only travel in town.
  • The motorized kit, installed on the rear wheel, is better suited to longer distances. More stable than its predecessor, this one is even suitable for difficult terrain.

A wheel-mounted electric motor is less expensive than a pedal motor. The latter, however, is more robust and comfortable to pedal. In the event of a breakdown, the frame-mounted motor is easier to repair, whereas the wheel-mounted motor requires regular replacement. We offer you 250 Wh batteries and batteries 630 Whbatteries, equipped with a control screen and designed to withstand long journeys. Battery life and performance depend on a number of factors, including weather conditions, terrain quality and riding speed. A 250 Wh battery will allow you to cover around ten kilometers on a slope, compared with around sixty kilometers on flat ground. A 630 Wh battery, meanwhile, can travel up to 162 kilometers on flat ground with a wind speed of 30 to 40 km/h.
